Covenant Awards to be held in Calgary on october 26th.
The 29th Covenant awards will take place in Calgary Alberta for its second time in the West. The 2006 Awards show was received by over 800 attendees, with artists including Connie Scott, Carolyn Arends, Downhere, Starfield, Cindy Morgan, The Silent, Chris Janz, and many more. The attitude of the whole night was one of celebration and truley honoring the artists who are leading the way in presenting the Gospel through music.
Starfield and Ali Matthews led the list of winners as GMA Canada presented the 28th Annual Covenant Awards October 27th in Calgary.
Starfield picked up four awards including trophies for Album of the Year, Song of the Year, Pop/Contemporary Album of the Year and Group of the Album while Ali Matthews earned Covenant Awards for Folk/Roots Song of the Year, Country/Bluegrass Song of the Year, Seasonal Song of the Year and Folk/Roots Album Of The Year. Other multiple winners included both Brian Doerksen and Downhere with three awards each.
The 28th Annual Covenant Awards capped off a very successful GMA Week in Canada which began with a worship event on Wednesday October 25th featuring Brian Doerksen, Jon Bauer and Tara Dettman. Workshops and seminars were held Thursday and Friday as part of the Canada Christian Music conference. Other major winners included The Silent who were voted New Artist of the Year, Brian Doerksen who won Artist of the Year and Male Vocalist of the Year, Amanda Falk who won Female Vocalist of the Year and Downhere for Recorded Song of the Year for A Better Way.
